Recovery Doesn't End at Discharge: Why Long-Term Continuity Matters

Anyone working in addiction treatment and recovery knows that discharge does not mean the work is finished.


A person may complete residential treatment, transition to outpatient care, begin working with a peer recovery specialist, move into recovery housing, or return to their community with a new set of goals. Months later, their needs may look completely different.

That is the nature of recovery. It evolves over time.
